What is Goierri?

In the heart of Basque Country

goierri

The region of Goierri is in the southeast of Guipuzcoa, bordering on Alava and Navarra. If you drive on the A1, you will see how these beautiful villages on both sides of the road have been able to keep their traditions alive.

18 local treasures

Our region has 18 villages, most of them with fewer than 1000 inhabitants, and all with views of the two national parks: a rare occurrence you can only find in Goierri, a region between two mountain ranges. If you’re travelling to San Sebastián, you can take a 30 minute drive for a quick trip to our valley, where you will be delighted not only by our nature and gastronomy, but by the Basque culture and history: in the highest points of the region you can find very early evidence of human life like tumulus and menhirs, in both sierras, Aralar and Aizkorri.
