Whether your skills lie in mountain-biking, walking, or riding, Goierri has something for you! Our large expanses of nature are waiting for you: take your mountain bike and explore the parks of Aizkorri-Aratz and Aralar through a selection of suggested routes. Choose length and level of difficulty, and pay attention to the maps. Now you’re all set to get to know the rural side of Euskadi in a whole different way!

Beasain – Usurbe – Pantano de arriaran – Beasain (difficulty: low)

Elevation: 843 m
Time: 2 h
Distance: 20,2 Km

This circular route starts in Beasain’s Avenida de Navarra street. From there, go to the neighbourhood of Beasainmendi through the road GI-3191, where the last part of the ascent becomes a track. Following the main path, you get to the top of Usurbe. Once you’re up, get down for 500 m. -same path you took when going up- and once you get to the crossing, turn left where the trail becomes a path, and go to Pagamea. From there on, you just need to keep going down and after passing caserío Lupesketa, you will get to Arriaran swamp

Ataun - Urkillaga - Lareo - Uidui - Ataun (difficulty: medium)

Elevation: 822 m
Time: 3 h
Distance: 28,17 Km

This route starts in Ataun’s neighbourhood of San Martín.
Hit the road that goes to Lizarrusti and, after 1km, take the crossing to the left and go up to Urkillaga’s port. Once you’re at the top, turn left and follow the path until you get to Lareo swamp. 500 m. after passing the swamp, take the crossing at left, to Enirio’s track. See Uidui’s old shepherd houses and Jentilarri’s dolmen. Follow the path until you find Lazkaomendi’s track and that will take you to Ataun.

Ordizia - Lazkaomendi - Lareo - Ataun - Ordizia (difficulty: medium)

Elevation: 737 m
Time: 3 h
Distance: 38,3 Km

This route starts in the center of Ordizia, ending in the same place. From Ordizia, go to Lazkaomendi through Lazkao’s path. Once in Lazkaomendi, from the old school spot, you will get fantastic views of both Sierras, Aralar and Aizkorri-Aratz. From the old school, turn left and you will find a path full of caseríos. Then, this will turn into a track and you will see four fountains, being the fourth one Intxusti’s fountain. From Intxusti’s fountain on, you will be getting in Sierra de Aralar, where the higher altitudes take place. These kilometres are the highest of the whole hike, since once you get to Errekabeltz, you will get right away to Lareo reservoir. Here you will find many big stones, so lift up your bike! Lareo reservoir supplies water to Ataun, which is the next town the track takes you to, for 5 km. At the end of the track, go down the road to Ataun’s neighbourhood of Aia and keep going down untili the beginning of Lizarrusti’s port. The last kilometres will take you to two more of Ataun’s neighbourhoods, San Gregorio and San Martín, and the town of Lazkao. To finish the route, you’re coming back to Ordizia!

Zaldibia - Pikoeta - Auza Gaztelu - Zadlibia (difficulty: medium)

Elevation: 1033 m
Time: 2 -2:30
Distance: 16 Km

This route starts in the town of Zaldibia, where going up in Santa Fe street and passing Arrese’s Restaurante, you will turn left to go up to the neighbourhood of Egileor. Keep going for 3km and you will reach Olakosaroi’s park, going back again to Zaldibia. This is a quite technical route and, according to the cycler’s skills, it will be more or less often lifting up the bike.

Beasain - Aralar - Ataun - Olaberria - Beasain (difficulty: high)

Elevation: 1619 m
Time: 4-5
Distance: 55,49 Km

Starting in Beasain, you will get through Aralar’s National Park, crossing Lazkaomendi and Enirio. The ascent is long and hard, especially the final stage, close to Igartza. Once there, it starts a pleasant downhill to Lareo reservoir. Get down the road to Ataun, where you will have to go up a short but steep slope, into the town of Olaberria. From here you will be getting closer to Beasain, seeing the beautiful caseríos of the area, and going down passing Indar’s factory and Igartza Monument Complex.

Pantano de Urdalur - Txaradigorri - Iramendi - Allarte - Arbarrain (difficulty: high)

Elevation: 1.446 m
Time: 4-5
Distance: 37 Km

This route starts and finishes in Urdalur swamp, located inside Aizkorri-Aratz National Park. Your route begins next to the swamp and, after 3 km, you will see a crossing where you will have to turn right, starting the ascent to Txaradigorri. Follow the path until you see Beunde’s picnic area and there you will see a track. Go through it for a kilometre and then turn left in the crossing, going up to the top of Iramendi. Then you will only see another crossing, turn right.

Passing the mount’s top, keep going down the path and find Larrebil crossing, where you will need to turn right heading to Allarte’s ridge. You will need to walk the last stage of the ascent. Then, the descent down begins, with a very technical start. During your route you will see Martín’s old shepherd house and then two crossings. Turn left in both, and reach the top of Arbarrain. From there, you just need to go down.

Urdalur’s swamp is right in the border between Guipúzcoa and Navarre. Going through Goierri, passing Etzegarate’s port into Alsasua, you will take Zegama’s exit, arriving to the road that connects Otzaurte and Alsasua. Turn left and then right, passing the train’s bridge. From there, keep going 3 km and you will get to the swamp!
