Go up to the San Adrián tunnel

Declared a UNESCO heritage site

The trail up to San Adrián is a pleasant walk. The tunnel became a famous legend in the Middle Ages but now is a great spot for getting a panoramic view of our mountains. You can walk on a two-hour circular path or, even easier, take the car and hike the last 20 minutes to the 70 metre-long tunnel.
jesus aranburu

“San Adrián is an awesome place, a natural cave, not man made, with lots of history. It has always been a highly transited area, but the cave seems to come out of nowhere”.

Both Aralar and Aizkorri-Aratz National Parks preserve and showcase the most spectacular natural areas of the Basque Highlands, offering you more than 50 different trails.
joseba insausti

“Everyone has his own opinion, Aralar Natural Park is my little paradise. It is not just a place for nice scenery, it is teeming with life. During the summer there is plenty of livestock and some forty shepherds –on the Gipuzkoa side- but encountering someone is not so easy. Only around the Txindoki area do I run into the occasional hiker”

Joseba Insausti,
Shepherd in Aralar Natural Park & producer of Idiazabal cheese in Otatza dairy farm (Ordizia)
