The tour begins at Zerain Square and at the Antxaputzu roundabout, under Burgomendi, takes the direction towards Aizpea. Downhill through the hamlets of Arene, Iñurrategi and Etxeaundi, it arrives at Presagain. On the other side of the GI-4262, parallel to the Aizperreka stream, there is a pedestrian path that goes to the Aizpitta Interpretation Center, which goes into the depths of the Iron Mountain declared a Monumental Complex.
A beautiful circular route that takes us from Legorreta to the San Joan fountain and picnic area in the town of Baliarrain. We will walk through forests and farmhouses until approximately halfway, where we can rest at the picnic area. The descent will also take us through forests and farmhouses, but from the other side.
As often happens, where there seemed to be nothing, small treasures have been found. That is what has happened while searching for medicinal plants on the trails; while walking, we have found many plants that can be used to create natural remedies.
Circular route starting from Legorreta Square and heading towards Santa Marina, neighbourhood of Albiztur. It does not pass through the centre of Santa Marina itself, as it begins the descent to Legorreta Square earlier, passing through Koate neighbourhood.
This route focuses on the town of Lazkao, where we will first pass through the town centre before heading into the countryside, passing by the iconic Lazkaomendi hill. We will also pass near to Abalizar farmhouse, where the famous bertsolari (improvisational singer) Lazkao-Txiki was born.
A circular route that starts at the top of Mandubia and heads towards the neighbourhoods of Garin and Astigarreta, which belong to Beasain. In the past, many walkers passed through Garin and Astigarreta, forgotten neighbourhoods in our region, on their way to Mandubia or Beasain.
The route begins in the Zerain square and runs along the village’s main street, descending to Ostatu reastaurant and passing by the pelota court known as “fronton”.
With Aralar Natural Park and Txindoki as a backdrop, we enter the Burgomendi forest via Antxaputzu. Going around the hill, at the Antxaputzu roundabout we return to the square, passing by the bowling alley, the hostel, the ethnographic museum, Mandio and the church.
The route forms a figure of eight. On this route, as well as recognising the ornamental species that embellish the streets and squares of Zerain, you will discover the Burgomendi oak forest.
Burgomendi is the ecological lung that large cities long for and is located almost in the town centre of Zerain.
Ideal route for children.
Zaldibia is located in the valley sculpted by the Urtsua and Amundarain rivers, in the northern skirt of the Aralar Mountains.
Although daily activity suffered a huge metamorphosis with the advent of industrialization, the town of Zaldibia has always been closely linked to land, mountains and natural resources. For years, and after hard work, they have been the livelihood of the local population.
Zaldibia is one of the main entrances of Aralar, as from here you access the mountains of Aralar through the road of Enirio.
The tour departs from the center of Zaldibia, from the square between the town hall and the church of the 12th century, Santa Fe. We will take the meaning of the Amundarain River but in the opposite direction, and we will go through a beautiful rural environment surrounded by gardens and farmhouses, until we reach Arkaka.
The tour is very comfortable. It is a 7.5 km paved road so it is a route that can be made with the children’s chariot and the whole family.
Zerain is one of those small towns that have managed to preserve the charm of the traditional rural environment.
This cozy locality has always been linked to agriculture and the exploitation of natural resources such as iron, coal, wood… and precisely, one of its main attractions, the Zerain Cultural Park, shows the visitor the traditional way of life in a pleasant and fun way.
The tour begins in Zerain Square (345 m), runs through Goikoaldan and surrounding Barbarimendi returns to the square.
The first section shares it with the Saint Jaques Way and the GR-34 Donostia-Arantzazu, up to the Arrola River (400 m). In this section it runs through old slopes and roads through rugged forests.
Following Arrola rive, with Aizkorri in front, passes through Arrolazar farmhouse towards the top of Barbariaitz (583 m). Leaving behind the farmhouses and pastures of Barbari, between forests we will descend to Gaztelumuño (510 m) and the tour ends in Zerain Square after surrounding the rock Txoritegiko Haitza.
In this small tour (PR), we will cross landscapes typical of grazing and cantabrian forest: farmhouses, countryside, slums, forest, extensive meadows and pastures where we will have the opportunity to enjoy the botanical elements that make up this landscape.
This tour takes place through the mining environment of Aizpea mines in Zerain.
The path starts on Aizpitta interpretation centre where we can leave the vehicle and enter the iron mountain where there are about 300 gallerias where the iron ore was extracted. For safety it is only possible to access, by appointment, the one next to the calcination furnaces.
Along the way we will be able to see the house of the engineers, current Aizpitta interpretation centre, the calcination furnaces, the cable, a replica of the train path used to transport the material and know a beautiful environment that is part of the Aizkorri-Aratz Natural Park.

The route runs through a canal that collects the waters of the streams coming down from the Aizkorri mountain range, as the canal crosses the skirt of the Aizkorri mountain range. This water channel was built in 1925 for the production of electric power, mostly for the trash of Zegama but which served many dwellings that still had no light.
Today it is part of a network of routes around biodiversity with different characteristics.
The route of the canal departs from Zegama’s old train station, which begins to climb through different forests and an environment of herdsmen’s slums. Once the beginning of the canal where the first water begins to be collected, the path follows the path of the canal, so it has no slope.
You can walk in the company of the streams coming in, feeling the freshness of the place and the sound of the water when running. For the collection of water, the canal has a dam, called Iturbieta from where the water is directed by an underground tube towards Zegama, to the Electra Aizkorri power station. Electricity is still produced in this plant today.
Path that starts in the parketxe of Anduetza, Aizkorri-Aratz Natural Park Interpretation Center. We start going up to Murgizelai merchant and then, on neighboring tracks, reach Arrietahaundi farmhouse. It is this point that we take a path in the opposite direction to the route of the Zegama-Aizkorri Marathon.
After walking 1.5km this path, we will take a bifurcation that will take us to the Zegama’s old train station. From this point we will start the descent to Zegama following a nice path.
We started the tour at the Parketxe Anduetza, Interpretation Center of the Aizkorri-Aratz Natural Park.
We walk along a few villages on a concrete trail and always climbing to enter a mountain trail. We continue to climb until we reach the Iturbieta dam from where we will already walk along a path next to the water channel.
Once we got to the end of the canal, we started the descent to Zegama.
Smooth and very nice route, which once the Canal is reached, is completely plain.
This circular tour begins on the dam of the Arriaran dam.
In the route we will see the sculpture of the famous Basque sculptor of the 20th century Nestor Basterretxea. It is an easy route, plain, suitable for children and that in many times crosses areas between trees, so it protects us from the sun on hot days. In the last kilometre of the route the trail running next to the swamp comes to an end and we will have to continue along the road that connects Salbatoreh with Mandubia, a road that passes through the neighborhoods of Astigarreta and Garin, belonging to the town of Beasain.
It is a very short road and the route does not even pass through the neighborhoods mentioned above.
You can park on the side of the road where the itinerary begins.
Easy and circular journey with 1.5km path that takes place under the highest peaks of the Sierra de Aizkorri. The path starts from the same Interpretation Center of the Aizkorri-Aratz Natural Park in Zegama. The tour runs between the dwellings and under the shade of lush oak trees. Ideal for a family tour.
This circular tour that is located in the village of Segura crosses the village, a neighborhood of farmhouses and the edge of the river Oria. In this way you will have the possibility to find thematic panels in which the determining aspects of the village: the nature that surrounds it, its medieval structure, the Saint James Way, the trade, the uses of water…
All of this brings us to a time when Segura was a major village of the region.
