Sara Trail SL-Gi 2007
This tour is closely linked to the figure of Jose Miguel Barandiaran and starts near the Barandiaran Museum, located in San Gregorio neighborhood.
His birth house named Peruenezar, Sara etxea, the home where she lived for a long time until her death, and the Larruntza mill, venue of the Barandiaran museum, meet on this tour where he himself used to walk. Every day I went up to the Gaztiñerre reservoir, which is the highest point on this path.
Neighborhood roads of yesteryear, farmhouses, forests and meadows, river banks, San Martín, etc. They are some of the resources that can be enjoyed on this easy, calm and wonderful trail.
Greenway Mutiloa-Ormaiztegi
The Green Way is another good hike for families. It has a didactic game of a route that combines orienteering, hiking and a lot of fun.
This route is a circular trail (8 km), also suitable for the Nordic walking technique. You and your kids will get the map and a pencil from the tourist office in Ormaiztegi, which is inside the Zumalacarregui Museum. To complete the game, you need to answer questions about the 10 marks in the circuit correctly. The questions are about nature, the environment, and mining.
Aizkorbe Iron way PR-Gi 3008
The iron attracted English and Germans to Zerain, to the Mountain of Iron.
The bowels of this mountain were exploited until the middle of the 20th century. This activity has left several remains, anecdotes, and a lot of history.
The people from Zerain take great care of the past, present and future of their people, and you can spend a magnificent day discovering the surroundings of this tour.
Lizarrusti-Lareo SL-Gi 2005
To begin the tour we will go to Aralar Nature Park Interpretation Centre in Lizarrusti (Ataun).
The “Parketxe Lizarrusti” is the Aralar Nature Park Interpretation Centre. In this centre, you can receive information about resources of the Natural Park. In addition to the information point, they have a hut, restaurant and bar. Located 620 meters above sea level, this is the largest beech forest in Gipuzkoa. Starting from this beautiful place, you will be able to know the secret places and summits that the Aralar Natural Park offers.
Lizarrusti-Lareo route includes the route between the “Parketxe Lizarrusti” and Lareo swamp. The “Parketxe Lizarrusti” is located in the port of Lizarrusti, border between Gipuzkoa and Navarra. The parketxe is witness to the border, and said building was once, the headquarters of the Mikeletes.
The tour is very comfortable. Of course, being a mountain route, it has small slopes but it has not any difficulty.
The tour begins in a leafy beech, and continues along the track that becomes a path until you reach the waterfalls of the Maizi River. The land that was previously beech, becomes a land with a huge diversity of flora: oak, ash, linden, hawthorn, etc. You can see a beautiful landscape towards Berreno. We will continue the ascent towards the swamp, leaving behind the tunnel carved in the rock of Akerreta and the Maizi river, passing first through the quarry from which the construction material was extracted and through the retaining wall of the swamp later.
Thus we will arrive at the Lareo swamp. We can surround it with a hike of approximately 1 kilometer. It is a place among the mountains that will surely make you fall in love forever.
