Do you dare climb the mountain where Edurne Pasaban started practicing? The\u00a0<\/span>first woman<\/strong>\u00a0to complete the ascent of the\u00a0<\/span>14 eight-thousanders on Earth<\/strong>\u00a0developed her hobby here, in the mountains of Goierri. The Aizkorri and Txindoki peaks give visitors the unique chance to enjoy nature, fresh air, and amazing landscapes, hence why she chose them as her regular training place.<\/span><\/div>\n
It will take you about\u00a0<\/span>two hours<\/strong>\u00a0to get to the top of Aizkorri. We recommend doing it in the morning, after visiting the\u00a0<\/span>Interpretation Centre of Aizkorri-Aratz Natural Park<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0<\/span>Zegama<\/a>. They\u2019re lovely people who will help you out! You can\u00a0<\/span>download the routes<\/strong>\u00a0and carry them on your GPS device. They will provide any needed map or explanation. For example, they will tell you the\u00a0<\/span>two ways<\/strong>\u00a0of getting to the top of Aizkorri: from the port of Otzaurte and from\u00a0<\/span>San Adri\u00e1n\u2019s tunnel<\/a>.
The most direct way, also the best sign-posted, is departing from Sancti Spiritu\u2019s Hermitage and the Mikeletes house. Before passing the tunnel, you need to follow the yellow signs and in less than two hours you will be at the top of Aizkorri. The drop is between 1000-1500 metres.

The second way to ascend the highest peak in Euskadi is to leave behind San Adri\u00e1n\u2019s tunnel and following the path at your right: a road with yellow and white signposts (the official colours for the short route).In summer, climbing to Aizkorri and seeing the amazing views and the sunset is just a fantastic plan. You can stay at the\u00a0hut<\/a>, but keep in mind that it is just an open space with concrete floor -no beds or facilities-, so you will need to\u00a0bring your own sleeping bag<\/strong>\u00a0and mat. It fits 6-8 people.
We\u00a0will\u00a0share\u00a0HIKING<\/a>\u00a0with\u00a0you\u00a0on\u00a0a\u00a0tour\u00a0where\u00a0we\u00a0will\u00a0climb\u00a0the\u00a0first\u00a0indicated\u00a0option\u00a0(yellow\u00a0spots)\u00a0and\u00a0lower\u00a0the\u00a0second\u00a0option\u00a0(white\u00a0and\u00a0yellow\u00a0marks).
