Arkaka – Lareo trail PR-Gi 2003
If Aralar’s contribution is based above all on the diversity of its resources, the main characteristic of this karst system is the water. Aralar is a large reservoir of water with its aquifers, underground and surface rivers, springs, etc. The human being has known how to use water in addition to covering his basic needs, also for other tasks such as grinding grain and producing energy. For this, important structures have been built over the last few centuries, such as the Arkaka Hydroelectric Power Plant and its sheet of water, the Intsusti spring, the Nafarriturri watering hole and the Lareo reservoir.
